Jens Risom Credenza / Buffet / Bar / Sideboard / Dresser

1960s

by Renown Designer and Furniture Maker JENS RISOM

Danish American furniture designer, Jens Risom is an exemplar of Mid-Century modern design. Risom was one of the first designers to introduce Scandinavian design in the United States.
Risom designed for Knoll in New York, but soon decided to launch his own firm, Jens Risom Design (JRD), which he launched on May 1, 1946.
Risom's reputation as a furniture designer continued to grow, and Risom began to promote Scandinavian design in home furniture to the broader American public.
In the 1950s, JRD ran a series of ads featuring photography by Richard Avedon and the slogan "The Answer is Risom".

Many of Risom's furniture designs are considered modern classics, and his furniture is on display at the Museum of Modern Art, the Yale University Art Gallery, the Brooklyn Museum, the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, and the Cooper--Hewitt, National Design Museum.
In 1996, Risom was presented with the Danish Knight's Cross by Margrethe II of Denmark.

This is a very versatile piece and can be used as a desk or desk cabinet in the office, as intended as a credenza, buffet, sideboard, bar or even as a dresser.
Would also make a great media console. With adjustable height and being a little shorter than the average credenza, I just can't imagine a better HDTV or Flat Screen TV stand. Also has an open compartment in the middle with a slide out drawer for the cable box, dvd player, etc.

In Overall Amazing Vintage Condition

58.5" x 20" x Adjustable Height (27.25" in photos)
