An Authentic and Truly Stunning Teak Lounge 3 Seater Sofa / Couch Designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1950 for Getama Gedsted.

The Sofa is classic Wegner. It is Extremely Comfortable to Sit in But at the Same Time it Doesn't Take Up Much Space.

The Solid Teak Frame has a Beautiful Deep Patina and is in Overall Pristine Original Condition with Only Minor Signs of Use for its Age.

Of Particular Note is the Custom Brass Hardware That Attaches the Gently Curved Arms to the Rest of the Frame. The Wool Weave Fabric is the Original Blue Kvadrat Wool.

The Fabric is in Decent Condition with a Couple Faded Areas. The Original Cushions are in Excellent Condition.

A Great Sofa that Offers a Simple Elegant Aesthetic and Delicate Curved Lines to the Wooden Frame.

The Back of the Sofa Presents a Stunning Spindle Style Construction Making this Piece a Great Choice for Viewing from All Angles.

HISTORY:


Hans Jørgensen Wegner, (April 2, 1914 - January 26, 2007), A World Renowned Danish Furniture Designer.

His High Quality and Thoughtful Work, Along with a Concerted Effort from Several of his Manufacturers, Contributed to the International Popularity of Mid-Century Danish Design.

His Style is Often Described as Organic Functionality, a Modernist School with Emphasis on Functionality.

This school of Thought Arose Primarily in Scandinavian Countries with Contributions by Poul Henningsen, Alvar Aalto, and Arne Jacobsen.

In his Lifetime he Designed over 500 Different Chairs, Over 100 of Which Were Put Into Mass Production and Many of Which Have Become Recognizable Design Icon
