HISTORY:
In the late 1950’s, Stewart MacDougall and Kipp Stewart partnered with Drexel Heritage to design Declaration, a modern collection in natural walnut. These pieces are considered classics today. Drexel's rich history of crafting quality furniture to their customers' exacting standards began in 1903. As early as the 1930s, Drexel Heritage employed dedicated staff designers as one of the first furniture companies to commit fulltime resources to style and design. They pioneered the concept of partnering with outside designers to conceptualize new collections. California modernists Kip Stewart and Stewart McDougall's work with Drexel Heritage immediately hailed as an important contribution to American design, several pieces were selected by the U.S. Government Design Committee for the Brussels World's Fair and an exhibit in Moscow.
